Hieroglyphics was a type of writing used in Ancient Egypt.  It was very important for the Ancient Egyptians because they could express their all day activities and feelings into words.  The Egyptians thought that it was very important and useful to record all government and religious matter, so, they invented the first type of writing, hieroglyphics.  There are about three scripts in Ancient Egypt other than the Hieroglyphics, but this is the most famous and recognized.  The other three were used for different purposes.  There are many places that Hieroglyphics can still be found, thats because, scribes, people that record things, used this writing to keep record and a memory of beliefs, history, and ideas of Ancient Egypt in temples and tomb walls and papyrus scrolls.

There are many ways to read Hieroglypics.  For example, you can read it from left to right, right to left or from top to bottom.
